I've never actually booked a trip to a fun location over the Thanksgiving holiday, but it sure is gaining in popularity! While it may have been unheard of to travel to Cancun over Thanksgiving, families are more and more traveling to vacation destinations over the holidays. I've heard from many visitors who arrange trips with family members, extended families, friends and more over Thanksgiving and Christmas. More and more, people are forgoing the homemade turkey and cranberries to share a vacation with friends over the holidays. Highest Elevation Hotel

I ran into an interesting tidbit the other day, and I thought it was so fascinating. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Highest Altitude Hotel in the world is the Hotel Everest View above Namche, Nepal - the village closest to the Mount Everest base camp - is at a record altitude of 3,962m (13,000 ft) above sea level! Apparently, the hotel was built to cater to wealthy people in Japan. The only problem is that the visitors had such a hard time coping with the altitude change, that they were getting sick upon arrival - does not make for a memorable experience :)

Guests fly to an airstrip in the Khumbu region of the Himalayas and are then transported by yak to the luxury hotel. The hotel now constantly pumps fresh oxygen into each room, to help the human body become acclimated to the sudden high altitude shock!

On a clear day, Everest can be seen in the distance. Pretty cool, huh?
